The vast majority of the Russian immigrants were and are in fact Jewish. Some Russians of a non-Jewish background got fake conversions so they could stow away and escape Russia as well because Russia was a hell-hole.

Its true what Chaim Ben Pesach is stating about the fact he helped "freed" 1million Russians, but they were not Jewish.
