Having had their first date in New York City and having proposed in New York City, it was no surprise that Krista and Chad wanted their engagement shoot in New York City too. A world-class city deserves a world-class engagement shoot so together we schemed and strategized, and created a one-of-a-kind photo shoot - affectionately known around here as an Artäge.

Early in the planning process, we agreed that the photo shoot should actually be a surprise date for Krista - Chad loves surprising her fiancee - so Krista was dropped from the planning and was replaced with the extremely helpful and wonderful Erica Cortes from Erganic Design (event planners in New York). The evening would have been a disaster instead of a smashing success without you Erica - THANK YOU!

The plan was simple enough. Krista and Chad do not make it to New York as often as they like so seeing the tourist attraction staples were completely appropriate for this elegant affair.

We started at Grand Central Station were Chad presented Krista with Lily flowers. From there, we moved along W 42nd to Times Square where we arranged to have a favourite photo posted on a massive billboard. Thank you to American Outfitters and their 15 Seconds Of Fame! We made it to the Rockefeller Center and their famed Top of the Rock just before closing. On the 70th floor, overlooking Manhattan at night, Chad presented Godiva chocolate-dipped strawberries. Note to other photographers - you are not allowed a tripod at the Top of the Rock. Now past midnight, we were all famished, so we headed over to The Plaza Hotel by Central Park. There in the courtyard in front of the hotel (with a massive fountain as our background), we set an intimate table for two, complete with linen, china, sushi and bubbly. It was quite cool but our racing adrenaline kept us warm! Our last stop was the Brooklyn Bridge where Chad gave Krista a little something that he picked up from Tiffany's. It was almost 4am by the time we got back to the Roosevelt Hotel New York- exhausted, elated and very excited.

Odds and Ends: Chad is a football player for the Toronto Argonauts, Krista was a cheerleader! Just what we always knew in high school - the football guys always get the gorgeous cheerleaders! :) Their wedding is upcoming in May and will be held at Toronto's Liberty Grand. Finally, Chad and Krista are both madly in love, tremendously fun to be with and thankfully, absolutely nuts about photos!

Hope you love your Artäge and see you on your wedding day!

Humongous hugs,
Heidi and Steve
