Some people think that morality is subjective, others feel morality is objective...this video takes a look at the deeper understanding of morality and the pattern within nature that suggests that it is more likely that morality does indeed have an objective purpose.

  • @aaugoaa Inevitably evolution continues and we still learn and progress, and shall continue doing so as long as are species survives

"maybe you need to think a little bit more about what you're saying"

Most of the philosophical groundwork on this was done by Descartes in the meditations, essential reading

There's also Quantum mechanics"you cannot observe something without affecting it" you may wish to google it

Thank you for your advice I will certainly take it, perhaps you should do the same :D

  • @MyContext i do not discuss my personal experiences, any knowledge i have gained from my spirituality i have shared for the most part.

  • @RevDevilin if you were right and one could not separate subjective from objective truths, then there would be no way for us to learn and progress.

the only reason you believe this is because you're confused, i have explained my position, i really would just be repeating myself.

maybe you need to think a little bit more about what you're saying.

  • @MyContext Given that I don't have any personal notion of divinity, I am asking what does your notion consist of. Clams of the divine are different from person to person, so, as opposed to praising or roasting a notion, I ask... Given some of my more disagreeable comments, I now ask everything with more patience and detail, since, I will assume that the goal is for the better until it is presented to be otherwise.

  • @aaugoaa "it is obvious that human understanding of morality has surpassed basic instincts, and survival techniques, only atheists would deny this fact,..." <- A fact you say? I say our moral notions need a bit of improvement. Given our potential, I would think that actually understanding our world and not appealing to our points of ignorance would be a good thing. However, looking at the current state of things...ignorance is running rampant creating violence in its wake...

  • @aaugoaa "objective moral truths"

But truth is a subjective human value

A rock is, there is no truth about it, until subjectively you define it

Then the objective becomes subjective, how can they be separated ?

  • @MyContext it is obvious that human understanding of morality has surpassed basic instincts, and survival techniques, only atheists would deny this fact, which is unfortunate, because they limit themselves. humans at the level of moral understanding at this time are not at peace. this is also obvious in human behavior, better understanding of objective morality can improve this. but i also believe there is a divine morality to enjoy, but humans are still a long way off that.

  • @aaugoaa Limiting what potential? If we assume morality is strictly about increasing survival potential which has the added bonus of more peace and cooperation, what more do you feel is needed?

  • @MyContext supreme being, since i am not one, i was just theorizing. maybe a supreme being would be complete knowledge.

i do think basic morality is a survival trait, but i believe there is more potential to it's purpose than that. believing that morality is just a survival trait is limiting any potential.

  • @aaugoaa What is your notion of a supreme being? (Any goals, desires, or is it just existent, separate, and self absorbed.)
