Help Please - Laptop Problem

Hi I have a fujitsu siemens amilo laptop with 2x 256mb ddr ram 1.5ghz intel processor. What it keeps doing is when i try to start it up , most of the time, you hear the fan for a few seconds and then a small sort of 'pop' sound(like when you hold down the power button on your laptop when it is on). Rarely, it starts up (if you're lucky), it boots into Windows Xp Proffesional and sometimes when i go to do something ( or completely randomly!) it shuts itself off. Sometimes when i move it it turns off. I am unsure if this still happens though because I have been avoiding it since i found out.
OS Installed:Windows Xp Professional
Tried to install Vista Ultimate but and error appeared whilst installing. :(

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you need any information I will try to tell you ( I can only tell you information I know ! lol)

can someone please help me, my laptop turns off every time when i play a game... Lolz... when i play a game 10 mins later my laptop gets an message saying somthink about somthink wants to acsess your computer acsept or cancle i clicked both and it will turn off and it turns off iff you leave it too... please help me !

Most likley a mobo issue. but try reseating the memory just to be thorough.
