Gadaa is not only an example for Oromos but for whole of Africa that needs an indigenous form of governance that is rooted in the realities of Africa. I feel, we as Africans, have done little to either research or explore these systems.

Even tho the Gadaa is from father to son. under the Gadaa a woman can rule , in fact women did rule under the Gadaa :)

i've heard gadaa before, but i really didn't didn know how far bac, but after watching this video, and i got to say that it is very touching, a lot of things went through my mind. what kind of enemy would wanna kill this kind of profound righ i always knew that oromos got something by just looking at elders you can see that there were something. oromos are the most humane human beings in the world. but their culture was murdered, the people divided into many tribes and forgotten themselves and..

wow great video!,.....it would be nice if there is a link anyone can send me about the oromo peoples history.....please and thank you ...im not necessarily oromo but i would like to know more about the oromo peoples history....from their side.....it seems like everything is bias nowadays towards the abbysinian empire and it just doesnt seem fair to take a shewan perspective for oromia's history so please send me a link other than wikipedia

Help:----I am not clear with the assumed political parties: Brimaji, Horata, etc. How do they constitute and be classified? Is it simple nomenclature or something based on ideology??

@jemahika @jemahika The parties are divided based on representation (constituency), which is to say the constituencies are based on clans (not political ideology). So, in the Oromo society no one segment rules over the other since each segment of the society is well represented in the Gadaa system. That's why some scholars say Gadaa is the one of the "most democratic" institutions ever known to mankind
