From what i know, not too many people sang live on soul train.

WOW would love to have this in a high quality version... what a bassline, what a voice

this is the "version" of Patti that I loved the most...I'll take the Patti with the cheesy hairpieces, the pink bloomers and the dark make up, singing like she was about the bust a gut, any day of the week over the present day Patti....

Yes...this is classic!
-
she was 37 in this performance

AHH! Been looking for this clip! This was November 1981, with the Minneapolis group The Time ("Get It Up", "Cool"). Later on the same show, Patti sang "Over The Rainbow", and the song would never, EVER, be the same again!
Damn shame they never released either of these 2 hits of hers as singles. Same company (CBS/Sony), different label (from Epic to Phila. Int'l); I suppose the P.I. division didn't want to take any chances, because none of her solo hits 1977-80 made the R&B top 10.

This HEFFA (meant in the sweetest country sense of the word) has had about 4 musical careers. The Blue Belles, 60's Girl Group Patti LaBelle and the Blue Bells, LaBelle, The HER SOLO CAREER, well damn from the the 60's to now she's still rocking and rolling!! DAMN IT MAN!
