Kurtis Foster (Minnesota) breaks his leg after crashing violently into the boards late in the second period of a game against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday March 19th 2008.

UPDATE - the NHL is now making money off of this video. Unfortunately they continue to endanger their own players. Shame.

Foster was in a race for the puck with Sharks rookie Torrey Mitchell (San Jose) in behind the Minnesota goal line. Mitchell was attempting to beat an icing call. Mitchell was assessed a 2 minute tripping penalty on the play.

The Sharks went on to win by a score of 4-3(SO)

  • well he cant put the team on his back like greg jennings obviously

  • no reason to think it was intentional, Mitchell was on the other end of a hit like that earlier in his career.

  • he did feel bad he had his arm on his back... sometimes you get carried away, it actually did not look intentional

  • that was just a stupid fucking hit theres no point in hitting him like that from behind. Nystrom was at least going for the puck and got his stick caught into Feduns skate not trying to kill him from behind

  • @maxthepax1 same spot same place..

  • FEDUNN! NOOO!!

  • And now 2 years later Taylor Fedun suffers the same fate...

  • Sucks for u

  • Fbal is brutal no doubt but IMO i believe hockey is much worse.

They're like gladiators out there.Their equipment can kill one another. They skate much faster to hit someone than an average football player would run to tackle someone. And to top it off there are no out of bounds in the NHL unlike football, if you have the puck you cant run out to avoid the hit the you have to take it like a man.Hockey is a much quicker sport were anything can happen unexpectedly. Hitting is Fball is inevitable

  • GO SHARKS!!!
