I don't think that there is anything someone can do to prevent themselves from being a target of stalking. Except never leave the house. It's not the woman's fault that she is being stalked: how can she be expected to control the actions of another person? The stalker is a person with their own choices. They are wholly accountable for their actions and the fear and violence they afflict.

I'm currently being stalked and the most freaky thing about it is it's by a guy and a guy I go to/went to school with at that. That's about as creepy and freaky as you get. Even more so he's affiliated with others who are not only from school, but people he hangs around with outside of school and he makes it all so painfully obvious. If it were a woman, more likely than not I wouldn't be as concerned, no offense to anyone when I say this.
