Robert "Bob" Ridolfi has been sculpting fantasy, sci-fi, and horror miniatures since the 1970s. He has fans around the world who like minis with a bit of "spooky and creepy" blended into the putty.

This is a fan video and cover of Peter Gabriel's chilling 1982 "Shock the Monkey."

  • Great vid! Bob's a good guy too! But "Shock the Monkey!?" I don't know about that...

  • Ever since the song was released, listeners have speculated as to the true meaning of the analogy of 'shock the monkey'. Some have said it is a song about drug addiction, others say it's literally about anti-vivisection (too simplistic, imo), over-the-top dysfunctional art expression, modern progress gone mad, ...it's even been said to be a sexual innuendo and euphemism (also not likely, imo).

  • It's different things to different people for sure, but it's commonly agreed that STM is "disturbing" in whatever sense it is/was intended. To me, STM is about one's senses being assaulted with evil or "badness" in society and/or one's personal circumstances to the point where insanity starts to set in. (i.e., Cthulhu-syndrome).That could be drugs, abuse, poverty, corruption, whatever. I like the song because it is creepy but seductive, like the irresistible but fatal embrace of a vampire.

  • 01:17 where can i find the chick with the bat on her hand from?

Really good video and a great artist.

  • The piece you referenced is a Reaper Miniatures sculpt by Mr. Ridolfi, # 02986, called "Eldessa, Necromancer", released in 2005 as part of Reaper's "Dark Heaven Legends" line. To my knowledge, it's still in print and available.

Thanks for the nice words about the video and glad you enjoyed it. It was fun. :)

  • Thanks for the video, Kathryn!

Just got back from KublaCon and had a very great event. Lazslo won the KublaSword and Remy won the People's Choice Award.
