We have met the deniers, and they are us

by Adam Sacks

James Inhofe.
Marc Morano.
Richard Lindzen.
Bjørn Lomborg.
George W. Bush.
Names of shame, ignominy, criminals against humanity, against planet Earth itself. Agents of the lethal delays in our response to escalating, accelerating, catastrophic global warming.
Yet, as deniers of climate change, theyre amateurs compared to us. Us activists, environmentalists, scientists, and certainly Copenhagen politicians.
Even though were believers, not skeptics, our denial is far more insidious and subtle. So subtle, in fact, that weve managed to convince ourselves that were not in denial at all. Quite the opposite. Why, the thought is too absurd even to contemplate.
But its true.
Were deniers every time we say 80 percent by 2050, or even 80 percent by 2020; every time we refer to tipping points in the future tense; every time we advocate substituting clean energy for dirty energy; every time we buy a squiggly light bulb or a hybrid vehicle; every time we advocate for cap-and-trade, or even a carbon tax; every time we countenance the mention of loopy geoengineering schemes; every time we invoke the future of our children and grandchildren and ignore the widespread suffering from global climate disruption today.
Every time we say these things and more, were promoting denial of dire climate reality, the reality thats spinning out of our grasp so fast that we conduct our frenetic climate solutions efforts in a kind of stupor, obsessing with parts-per-million statistics, keeping desperately busy to ward off our own utter collapse borne of despair.

  • Bullshyte tell the truth, what about the Hadley Centre that got hacked, and the emails put on the net, why is the mass media not covering that, as it completley shuts the door on the global science

  • Ager my little annonynous friend, please post the links to the emails.

I'm saying he is soft peddling the facts, and we will be extinct inside of 100 years .. and that is if we are lucky.

Stupid humans need hope, accepting 3 - 4 degrees temp rise is to much for ignorant bipeds, basically it is goodbye Amazon (the jungle not the book sellers) oh and goodbye our oxygen supply .

And don't mention peak oil .... ops

  • When I was at school oil was going to run out in 2010.... wrong.

When I was at school temperature was going to rise after the year 2000.... wrong so far.

When I was in Sunday School I was told there was going to be a World Government.... hang on that's true. Now Church doesn't talk about World Government... everybody else does.

The New President of EU recently said that Copenhagen was an opportunity to expand 'global governance'.

    More power into fewer hands....

    Absolute power corrupts.....

  • And when you were at school the Murray and Snowy Rivers had water in them.

And I bet Australia had way higher food production .... with productive animals running around on the stations, rather than starving and thirsty camels,

As global temp has gone up an agreed .7degrees, at least some of that has been in your last 25 years?

The days of 74 billion barrels a day of crude are over also.

NWO ? maybe? I'm staying neutral on that one, whatever is going to happen it all looks bad.

  • I am a climate change infidel. I refuse to accept Al Gore's new religion.

  • The EPA has now decided that CO2 is a pollutant....

Someone might wish to let then and this moron, that he and all life is made of CO2. And without warmth, it is not very useful. This is a TRADING scheme for the ultra rich to get more wealth. Every one of these con artists will get rich as the Kool-Aid drinkers do their dirty work.

  • Only conspiracy theorist deny global warming. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that technological man has escalated so much more than in any other age of civilization. We just can't pretend that it's not doing anything. Don't get me wrong I do agree that we can't expect to just cut carbon emissions with all this undeniable economic growth with most of the world plugged into financial markets. But still we can't just pretend that sea levels aren't rising.

  • no credibility with me .. same drivel they keep spouting

  • So, global warming, let's see: "The Greatest Threat to Life on Earth"

    Greenhouse gasses

    CO2 = bad

    Methane = worse

These two gases are produced primarily by living beings. This then must lead to the conclusion that; the greatest threat to life on earth is... let's see.... Life on Earth!

    Yeah, OK

  • Next up: Australia leads in fighting the galaxy cataclism of the 2012.

  • put your head a little further up Australia's ass

and to the left, always to the left

Does this guy really think by kissing ass his ideas will be accepted? I guess so, because this looks cut to put on the best face

  • Not Only are the computer models insufficient, the data that is put into them is Fraudulent and Cooked. We have been in a slight cooling phase since 2000.
