Does this mean Chell is an amnesiac or has been mind-wiped? Or is she just maintaining that "why speak to machines?" stoicism?

@andymcgaha Oh man, there are so many epileptic trees on that topic, its pretty much impossible to tell. My money is that Chell's just maintaining her policy of not reacting to her environment, but who knows what's going on here. According to the comic book, Chell was already an employee when GLaDOS shut down the facility, which may mean this is just a coincidence or a potential mindscrew by Valve.

I also wonder if maybe Chell is legitimately mute, like all that time in suspended animation maybe did have some effect on her brain. Considering she was down for who knows how long before Portal and was under again for much longer than she was supposed to be before Portal 2, I'd be surprised if there isn't something wrong with her.

It's just great that, for me, Chell is the most interesting video game character in recent years.

@andymcgaha Certainly possible, but her lab report says something about her seeming intentiaonally silent, which may be Valve's hint at why she never talks.

I have to agree with you though. She is by far the most interesting to speculate on. With any luck, she'll make an appearance in Half Life soon. Assuming they ever release it.
