Seeing as you don't list any source I'll feel free to assume you don't know what you're talking about. (Feel free to post a source if you have one).
Meanwhile, two years after your comment and it's auto companies that didn't invest in efficiency like Ford, GM, and Chrysler that are about to go bankrupt. Toyota (which did) has done OK during a very bad downturn. So who was right about that?
