I think maybe in the acoustic version she is dead, because he says "Why would God take one that beautiful?"... whereas in the electric version he screwed up the relationship and she has moved on to someone else. Pretty sad either way!

I just thought of it as him blaming God for taking her away from him...that is...that she would dumb him or that he had to go or something like that.

Does the acoustic version have different lyrics from the electric version?

Yeah a little....

In the electric version he refer to her as "she".....but in the acoustic it's "you"

then in the acoustic: "So much left unsaid, and years to be shared..." he says in the electric version: I can't change her mind or turn back the time" or something and there's even more...
