@kpbassy NO SHIT? WOW.. Thank you for that tidbit- I'd always thought this song was legendary- knowing the band is all black women just puts it over the top of teh awesome scale...
I feel you both.... was instantly locked with fascination when i watched the movie - went straight out and bought the soundtrack... this band literally left no trace... frustrating from so many perspectives.... it would stand to reason that if they could get a scene in a movie of this caliber and a song on the soundtrack - that there has to be some additional recorded material lurking somewhere in cyberville... a demo - something.... my phingers crossed
Hello, does anyone know if Strange Fruit put out anything on recorded media(CD, vinyle, tape, etc.)??
This song haunts me! I love it! Ever since I saw the movie and bought the soundtrack, I have searched in vain to find anything on the internet about this band. I have found nothing, nothing at all.
I'm not sure how to contact youtube members or if it's even possible, but if anyone has any information they can pass along, just reply to this.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.......................
Truly one of music's great injustices!!!! Such a talented band!!!! I saw them in Cafe Du Nord in SF around '96 --- great show!!! It left a lot of folks that night in a cathartic state. A five piece all black women band who could rock & avant garde jazz equally well??? They totally melted my butter that night. Thanks for posting this & anyone out there who has anything else from Strange Fruit or their members, PLEASE let me know!!!
Awesome! Powerful!
