I remember this took forever to load; 2 minutes load time to listen to a 7 second sound bite! It was still impressive back in those days, though.
-
I did it on the Apple 2e with a program I input by hand from a Compute magazine!
-
I had this and I also had a snippet of a Mike Oldfield track...
-
I played this to my brother who after said computers would never replace 45" records. How wrong he was...

I had the same problem when I wrote my own sample playback routine. It only worked when the screen output was turned off; I notice that computer game "180" did that too.
"Grand Prix Simulator" did what appeared to be sampled speech but kept the display on; in retrospect, I suspect that this may have been speech synthesis based on voice patterns rather than true sampling.

I had this. The video output was disabled during playback because the computer needed the horsepower that the video used. I believe the other song I heard digitized on the 800 was some Jerry Reed song.
Oh yeah - why is it so short? That's all that could fit in memory.

good as usual..red fever up to five..
