There is a pair of binoculars in this scene. Bausch & Lomb 9 x 63 (gives ideal exit pupil of 7 for low light level) are a variant of the 7 x 50 B & L that were modified by adding a new objective cell and extension to the 7 50's. It has a Baker eye shield which is beneficial in keeping out light from the sides but at the cost of moving the eyeball away from the ocular, reducing field of view. This shield is easily modified by enlarging each hole to allow shield to fit lower on eyepiece.
