This is the first of several videos on the topic of triad asthma. Three parts of triad asthma are aspirin sensitivity, asthma, and nasal polyps. This video describes the disease, and subsequent videos talk about the diagnosis and management of patient's with triad asthma, particularly focusing on the management of the sinus disorders.

  • @SinusDoctor Hi there, I've had this disease for 13 years now and I'm glad someone has put it on youtube. I know there are many people walking around with this and don't know what it is. I'm trying to be desensitized in the U.K its not very well known here but I've failed the Lung function test twice, I can only manage about 75%. Tell me, How much does it cost to get this done with you roughly? please give a rough guide price and please don't say it depends! Regards.

  • @lennonpolo

    Hi,

I am assuming that you have had surgery and your polyps are small. Desensitization is likely to fail if your polyps are large. So, assuming you DONT need surgery too, I would estimate that the whole process is several thousand US dollars. We are working on a "package price" for this service, but have not got that set. Since I do not do the desensitization (my allergy colleagues do), I would really need to ask my allergy colleagues or administrator to get you an estimate.

  • Thanks to my own research, I discovered the connection between my asthma problems and

    taking aspirin.

When I stopped taking aspirin (for stroke prevention) my asthma began to clear up.

Also, when I stopped drinking wine, which has

sulfides my asthma cleared up even more.

I no longer will use the cortesone inhaler and

I may use my other inhaler once a month if at

    all.

    I am 63 years old.

  • @vacinestoxic

Great that you figured this out !

Yes, wine and beer are also triggers, though less severe than aspirin like drugs.

  • Thank you for these videos. They describe my sinus and asthma problems almost to a T that i've developed this last year, except for one thing, it seems to be just ibuprofen that brings this out in me, not aspirin. I went and got aspirin desensitized but it had little effect on me and didn't improve my symptoms. When I take aspirin it does very little to me, when I take ibuprofen it causes a severe sinus/throat reaction. Is it possible to just get ibuprofen desensitized?
