  • screaming does take talent, any one can scream but not everyone can scream on to pitch with technique

  • Probably annoyed that he has to answer the same questions that's been answered to death.

  • he is right when he says that Trivium is one of the few bands out there with members that can sing

  • @mrphilcollins yup it was an experiment, singing and writing in standard tuning, they shouldnt have done the ascendancy songs like that, ah well, their choice. He did have trouble live screaming+singing clean so I'm guessing that had something to do with it too, live atleast.

  • it is what it is but everyone knows that its hetfields thing, and yes its a trademark characteristic of his vocal. i don't really care if he meant to it or not. To be honest i'd say he just wanted to sing more and he thought it was gonna suit him without thinking too much about it or if he was sounding like anyone. my problem was that it sounded bad. like light to flies sang with a gruff voice!? the screaming was such an integral part to the song/album kinda ruined it. they have it now though.

  • @mrphilcollins Still don't agree on the Hetfield part. It's ridiculous to say it's his 'trademark'. His trademark is his vocal style, people say that Heafy tried to copy that, which he didn't, as he didn't sound like him at all. That aside it's merely a technique that everyone can use. However I agree that he has become a great singer now, he's amazing on In Waves!

  • @Direksone didn't say hetfield had a patent on the word... however it is his trademark to finish vocal lines with (agh, eh and yeahah!!!) he was influenced by hetfield its no secret and its not his fault if he shows that influence however its rediculous to say he sounded nothing like him...the comparison came from somewhere... and its beyond a couple of magazine covers saying "we want to be the next metallica" to his credit heafys come on heaps and bounds on in waves(which is great) and shogun

  • @mrphilcollins and fyi, he even says so himself he wasnt trying to sound like Hetfield. Haters gonna hate, trollers gonna troll and their information is always false. Just a rumor brought into the world by Trivium haters. Pathetic, not saying you are, however the haters are, and not just Trivium haters.

  • @mrphilcollins yea because saying 'yeah' is something only hetfield does? Come on dude, that's such bullshit. He doesn't sound anything like Hetfield at all. He made a catchy bridge section that is about two words: oh and yea. That is sounding like Hetfield? Hah.

  • @jacksonDXMG fair comment about hetfield though... check the "yeahah" part of anthem for one or when matt sang ascendancy songs on that tour. maybe...long shot! he didn't realise what he was doing but he definitely sounded like he was taking hetfield off. notice i said sounded as in not anymore just on that tour for whatever reason.

  • @PreyForMyDeth I'd get pissed if I got asked retarded questions by a mumbling foreigner too ha

  • i hate tht interviewer !
