If you can't communicate, you can't fight back. In the wake of unprecedented media consolidation, grassroots resistance to corporate control of our public airwaves and the internet has been growing. Robert W. McChesney, President of Free Press, outlines the importance of media in connection to all other progressive struggles.

  • all these corporations need to be broken up.. not just media or the banks but the oil corporations ...the old laws put in force by Teddy Roosevelt have been gutted by the corporate lobby and the corrupt politicians

  • The single best test of whether a media corporation is extremely biased, treasonous, anti-American, and uses deadly force to achieve its aims: does it refuse to promote meat (McDonald's, KFC) and instead air PETA videos showing the factory farming of animals in confinement for their lives with no freedom whatsoever? If no, then all patriotic Americans need to support war to exterminate anyone involved in such a corporation. Treat them as one would Al Qaeda or the Nazis.

  • what the hell you talking about. most reporters who are conservative in beliefs find it hard to find jobs as the unbiased media is ran by the liberals.

  • It is discouraging as a journalist knowing that doing our jobs

might get us fired just because we refuse to get sodomized by the Bush Administration and every other corporate vulture polluting our airwaves and poisoning democracy. They don't want us to see G-8 demonstrations, they don't want us to see youth actually taking steps to change the world, they want us eat, get fat and watch American Idol :)

  • Anyone ever use to watch Sesame Street? The whole joke was that it was brought to you by the letter A and the Number Two...a little stab on commericialism..and now they are owned by Zithromax by Pfizer.

  • Everytime Bill O'Reilly opens his mouth I wanna shoot myself in the foot..

  • if you enjoy this speaker, check out his radio show- MEDIA MATTERS. (just google media matters with bob mcchesney)

  • Same problem in France with concentration of media by big corporates (Dassault, Lagardere, Vivendi)

  • I'm from Mexico and there's media ownership here too, people need to inform themselves on what the bigger picture is...

  • I could not agree more with the speaker,I live in Australia and the news is pretty one sided with Fox and other mainstream TV stations, having a biased view
