OH, HAD I A GOLDEN THREAD

Oh, had I a golden Thread
And needle so fine
I've weave a magic strand
Of rainbow design
Of rainbow design.

In it I'd weave the bravery
Of women giving birth,
In it I would weave the innocence
Of children over all the earth,
Children of all earth.

Far over the waters
I'd reach my magic band
Through foreign cities,
To every single land,
To every land.

Show my brothers and sisters
My rainbow design,
Bind up this sorry world
With hand and heart and mind,
Hand and heart and mind.

Far over the waters
I'd reach my magic band
To every human being
So they would understand,
So they'd understand.

  • the first recording of that song by Judy without drums is better

  • Just awesome!

  • if pete seger isnt singing it it's not worth listening to =/

  • How can you not love the way Judy sings it. She is such a perfectionist. I can listen to her version of this over and over. But then I'm bipolar.

  • It is of course a matter of taste, but I'd take Eva Cassidy's version of this song any day. But then I just LOVE EVA !!

  • A friend and I saw Judy Collins walking around Boston years ago. We yelled "We love you Judy!" as we drove past her and she responded by yelling out "I love you too!" A gorgeous voice, a talented woman, and an American "living treasure".

  • bull the best version is by Nana Mouskouri

  • I don't care for Eva Cassidy's cover, Its bluesy and not to my taste. I think of this has a folk song not a cheesy jazz lounge song.

  • Eva Cassidy bitchslaps this version and its family, i mean its still good but eva still merks it.

  • The best version of this song is by Eva Cassidy. Check it out.
