The New York Yankees made a statement tonight, trading Jesus Montero to the Seattle Mariners for Micheal Pineda and signing Hiroki Kuroda. Does this make the Bronx Bombers the team to beat in 2012?

  • @hornedfrog2000 Yup, I missed is name the second time around. Just a slip of the tongue, I guess. I'm not trying to run for office or anything, so people don't have to take me too seriously. Just talkin' some baseball.

  • @kj24513 You're right, there are definitely more pitchers that blow out their arm than hitters who suffer serious injuries. I just think it's much more difficult to find an ace caliber arm than it is to find a bat without a position. @NickBigsmoke You make a great point as well, the M's have built up a pretty impressive stable of young arms. Right now, however, those are just guys you can dream on. Pineda materialized in the majors already.

  • Nailed it. @1:02 mistakenly called him Jose Montero. Guess I won't quit my day job.

  • the mariners did this because their offense is a joke

  • this kid is real deal on offense, you could see it when he came up

  • acquisation? lol, is that a joke?

  • @fromthenorthwest you must be furious at seattle ownership and gm's?

  • @BOBAbaseball u mean austin romine?

  • Michael Pineda, physically is ace material....mentally, not so. im sure his age has something to do with it but i still believe his natural pitching IQ is not going to reach levels of let say greg maddux or mussina type. not ace but a very good #2 or ace #3. his fastball is fast but doesn't have much movement...reason he gets many fly balls. he'll have his good moments and bad moments all in one game. he just needs the mentality of an ace pitcher to get there but i think he'll come up short.

  • Its also pretty damn hard to find a hitter like Montero. Ill take a 30HR 100Rbi guy in Safeco over a pitcher with arm trouble. Even trade.

  • Check out my Michael Pineda Jesus Montero trade video!

  • I think the reason why they traded Jesus Montero to the mariners is because they have another catching prospect in the minors named JR Murphy. Don't know where JR will go but that might be why.
