This is the waveform from a signal generator run through a guitar amplifier with a phase shift vibrato circuit, that I designed. The audio quality is not very good due to the fact that I am using my sons toy to record with. The circuit uses a variable inductor, instead of a variable resistor to perform the phase shifting. As you can see from the video, this is true vibrato and not tremolo. It sounds very much like a Magnatone.

  • did you use varistors a la Magnatone?

  • @guitarcapo no i am using a variable inductor or (saturable core reactor) for the phase shift. the hammond organ company used this type of phase shifting on a few organs, but not to many people know about it.

  • good job! will you release a schematic or keep it for yourself? do you have any demo with guitar?

  • @ericohman thanks, i will post schematics once i get all the bugs worked out. i would just ask for people to say they are using my design, if they make money off of it. as far a guitar demo, i do have audio clips posted on the tube amp network, but it is just basic notes. i am far to rusty on guitar to actually play a song.

  • Sounds like a flutter and not much like a Magnatone at all. Interesting concept though. What organs used this?
