Probably in The Muppets Take Manhattan, Kermit's big afro must have been holding his sunglasses into place without the ears.

In the Muppets take Manhattan, and a few Sesame Street skits, Kermit is shown wearing sunglasses. He should have welcomed a pair of sunglasses from Grover.
Also, on an episode of the Muppet Show, Miss Piggy tells Kermit that his eyes are like two ping pong balls floating in a pond of green algae.
