It is not now but a prolonged years especially a dark period of Taliban that Afghan women suffered of violence. Violence not only in out side house but inside. Though afghan men always look them as possessed materials who owned by paying. In Afghanistan women is completely apart of daily live, what their husbands believe is to different than western men.

Sometimes Afghan men beating their wife for nothing just they like it to show their power and anger in his family member. When they feel to beat their wife they do it immediately. Many parents marry their daughters off to wealthy men aged 60 and 70. A shocking story of child bride at the age of four in Kandahar is one example of thousands. Many parents sell their daughters like materials, they are not care where does she goes and what will happened on her. About 57% of Afghan girls are married before the legal marriage age of 16; about 60-80% of marriages are forced.
Hundreds of women are jailed, last year a local reporter said; the prisoners of women prison, are always rape. A lady whispered me that last night five soldier with Kalashnikov forcedly took me out of prison and raped in their cabin. He said.
A UNIFEM research project suggests that 80 percent of the violence is committed by a family member - husband, father, brother, son.

The quran was written 1500 years ago to control society& for men to have dominion over women . A book for ancient times but then it was adopted by politicians to control whole countries through fear.Its a barbaric law that has no place in modern society. Men & women are both 2 halves of the human race-none more important than the other, neither superior.A law that gives rights to men & denies half the human race their rights is anti-god & doesnt get you to heaven.Be kind & merciful

i strongly disagree with this video...it is not only in Afghanistan domestic violence, it is all around the world......What you actually trying to do is to defame woman's status in Islam and in Afghanistan....women in Islam are not oppressed, are very much respected and treated with kindness by their husbands...I am married with an Afghan pashto, and he is the kindest person I have ever met....

IT is sad that women all over the world bring life. And no man should have a right over her. I do not belive it's a religon way of thinking But more of a cultural way. In latin American countries the Machismo is real and it happens the same as well. women beaten over no reasons but pure angry men. Hey in the Phillippine's did you know the do not honor devorce and women do not drive.

@timboslayer why do you have to associate a religion when you have acts of Domestic Violence in Us and many western countries significantly higher? The religion didn't tell them to do that, they did that because of similar reasons you have in non religious cultures. if many schools and hospitals are blown up and destroyed, how are these people "REALLY LEARNING ISLAM' in a cave? That means all education is effected by the war, including religious education! So, what is left? Tribal culture :(
