Whenever I walk around with my viola, people automatically assume it is a violin. Once someone guessed again after saying violin and said cello......
Things like this (the video) make me love my instrument even more.

ESRAA"..how beautiful and warm your sound IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just from heart.
Bravoooooooooooooooo

beautiful viola dark sound!

inappropriate, shaky and way to airy for a second movement of a german classical concerto. try vieuxtemps, it would suit the way you're playing a lot better...or maybe not.

@BiteSizedRose Hey! You're most welcome. And I'm really chuffed to get a nice comment from someone. Thanks. Do please stick it onto your viola case - it's time the Shrinking Violet stops hiding her light under the bushel. And MAKE THE PRINT BIG!!!! :)

@JiangxenPeter As a violist for 11 years that also teaches violin, I love reading things like this where our lesser known instruments are discovered and loved. I feel like printing this out and taping it in my case to remind me to not play so quietly and shy. Thank you :)

Viola, the shy rose of the orchestra has no reason to be so!! She has a beautiful character & truly sexy voice: now soulful, now sweet, but always warm & seductive!! Like many violinists I was a bit snooty about the viola, until I took one and played it! And then, it was Love at First Touch!! The viola is so much more forgiving that the violin! I just love the velvety tone. It still sends shivers up my spine every time I play it or hear it being played! No wonder so many composers were violists!

@altonoir1 Haha, when I went to music camp, I heard jokes every single day in and out of rehearsals... some quite mean (even comparing violas to coffins). Then the conductor made everyone give the viola section a standing ovation after a beautiful soli section and it stopped. :-)
People are racist towards violists, that's why. Or instrumenalistist--whatever, people don't appreciate the viola.
It's part of a long history of abuse and neglect... j/k
