Racy moments from Groucho's quiz show that couldn't be broadcast. They were compiled into "stag reels" for the annual sponsors' conventions. This is part one of a reel taken from shows filmed in 1953-1955.

  • This is hilarity to the max, daddy-0! THANKS for sharing! I notice that Groucho is not wearing the toupee that he wore towards the end of the shows's ten year run. I LOVE this show....this is racy stuff for the 50's but Groucho was proof that a man can become a comedy legend without using four letter words & describing sexual behavior in graphic detail. He & Fred Allen were the quickest wits in show biz.. Thanks again & I hope ALL your wishes & dreams come true in the New Year!! :)

  • @JubalCalif You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed these and thanks for the comments. Happy new year to you too. :)

  • "This isn't Christine?", was a reference to Christine Jorgensen, who in 1952 was the first recipient of a successful sex-change operation.

  • I love to hear the thoughts going thur Grouchos mind when he interviews theses people

  • @mrbrandon71

I second that emotion! Many thanks for your intelligent, articulate & thoughtful comment! CHEERS, mate! :-)

  • @JubalCalif Well stated, and human beings seemed to have "devolved." No boobs, no swearing, no trash...and this is still funny and fun to watch. What a mess we live in now.

  • great stuff!

  • forget the rest of the show..these so called racy stuff is hilarious..and they had lots of them....the audiencfe were great too...!

  • @Bobaklives Usually a "confirmed bachelor" in that era would know that he had to lie through his teeth since homosexuality was considered a mental illness in those days. So, I wonder why he felt so compelled to be honest rather than do what every other gay man had to do back then. He was cute, so maybe he hoped he could find someone through the show :o)

  • "You were actually describing the girl of my dreams." *rofl*

  • omg crying at the first second! xD

  • @TheVirajster they have a website called tunein radio and an app for it...I listen to this show at work on my phone and laugh so loud everybody looks at me...when I tell em it's Groucho they don't get it! very sad!

  • Groucho is the quintessential TV host...none comes close. And the camera shots selecting the reactions are perfect! Plus this humor STILL stands up...hysterical! Made my day..so glad there's more of these gems on youtube...THANKS!!

  • the way he turns to the audience is just perfect.

  • Groucho, what a wit, he cleverly interacts with his guests and also uses his view point to translate to the auduience as with the cigar and the body language. Perfectly timed!

  • Groucho not only had the wit, he also had the sort of face which worked so well in delivering quiet responses to some of the remarks.

  • This was one reason why the show was "transcribed" for radio, and filmed for TV. In addition to the "unexpected" moments, there were more than several occasions when Groucho's tongue was faster than his brain- and many a risque remark passed through his lips that couldn't be seen (or heard) for broadcast. So, these moments were saved, and were shown to the staff at the end of the season...and by Groucho, to his frequent home visitors, on his own 16mm projector {when he felt like it} for years.

    ( X ) wrong answer, sweetheart!@#$%

First time I ever seen Groucho look genuinely squeamish on that show!

Endless thanks to your for posting this video

  • The guy at the end... wow, it's obvious why that wasn't going to fly. Its interesting to see a "confirmed bachelor" of the era.

  • wow i loved your post thanks so much...whoa Groucho

at his best..he did have alot to work with tho lol thanks again

  • It's obvious this was all scripted - still very funny !!

  • "...No, this gentleman is now abroad."

    *Laughter*

"That's not the way I meant it...!"

    "This couldn't be Christine, eh?!"

    These are all hilarious.

  • These videos are awesome, but it is incredible that the aired version of YBYL was so hilarious in spite of the censorship!
