This is played on the Plein Jeu registration learned from the St Maximin Academie d'Orgue www.orgue-saintmaximin.com.

Following the murderous comments about Jacob playing the Bach D Minor with the 64ft / 128ft organ stop, this Toccata proves just how learning with an inspirational piece can set a young musician on a path of enthusiastic skill acquisition rather than boredom of five finger exercises. We added the 32ft Bombard at the end on the pedals

This organ at Hammerwood Park East Grinstead Sussex is always available for enthusiastic organists to practice, try, play, perform and experiment with interesting registrations. Please phone 01342 850594 and you will be welcome. The lesson of a St Maximin style organ is that less is more: one never pulls out all the stops.

  • I'd been wondering when we were going to see more of this kid. He really is pretty good for 9 (I assume he's 9 now as he was 8 in the Bach video). I like the piece too - simple but effective. I've got the pedal part stuck in my head now... I hope we'll be seeing more of Jacob - he's definitely got potential. And it's so good to see a kid his age taking an interest in the organ instead of just playing video games or throwing stones at cars or whatever else 9-year-olds do for fun these days.

  • Yes - he's doing well and called in the other day with Grandad, played this and I persuaded him to do it again for YouTube.

The trouble with the current generation of youngsters is that the majority are disenfranchised from their heritage. They are not dragged around with families, so that they are introduced to things which they will find enjoyable in later years. As a result they become as you say.

I'm fed up of being enterntainment for octagenarians and not inspiration for 8 year olds.

  • you are truly gifted jacob.. keep it up...

  • Exellent! How is this piece called? Where can I get the sheet-music?

  • What a wonderful performance! Jacob can be, and indeed ought to be, very proud of himself. Very, very well done piece!

  • Yea! You're the best organist yet over there! :D (I like kids! :p!)

    ~Cindy! :)

  • How old is this kid? He is really good for his age.

  • Amazing to see your youth playing like a master! A truly gifted kid.

BTW, could you post the score on the net so we can practice it in our pianos? It's a lovely piece and doesn't seem hard to play either. :-P

  • Awesome job kid. Keep up the good work and best of luck.

  • @latribe Well said, latribe, well said. And oftentimes the heritage is potrayed as undesirable and something completely evil. Every culture has had it's bad points,

I think Europe on a whole is less disenfrachised from their heritage than America.

That is probably why the arts are thriving more so in Europe. I'm in love with the guitar and the classical guitar. I can't find home grown classical guitarists in my area. Beat machines and yelling. It gets old, but this music ....is timeless.

  • Can you tell that Jacob is really into it? Great job Jacob and Grandad. That piece of music seems custom fit for him too. Okay, Grandad! Where were you when I was young, lol!

  • Świetny jesteś:))
