Bobbie Gentry is a complete musical gem brighter than a diamond. This is one example of her excellent work..."We had to pick cotten to pay the funeral home" Yes folks it seems there were serious hard times.. I wonder what inspired her to do this song...must have been family hard times during the depression? She sure captured that in this song. What an amazing writer...
