THE BIRTH OF A FUCKING NATION

You seem to forget it was the popularity of the film that inspired the formation of the modern Klan, Most of the 20th century KKK's rituals and Modus operandi were lifted directly from the movie and not the original Klan. When the actors performed their roles "The 1st klan was unknown" and largely forgotten, The KKK were not scene as infames and thugs until the 1930's when well publicized scandals broke out forever tarnishing the klan's reputation causing most of its members to leave.

You know it would be interesting if you did a review of "Broken Blossoms." Another Griffith film rife with racism, and contrary to what many believe, it was quite apparent back in 1919 as well.

the woman who wrote the book margret mitchel, claimed to have been inspired by Birth of a Nation

I'm sure anyone would have cried if a child you have known since she was a little girl as they have died. That is just human emotion. I don't think it was wrong to show that.
It's too bad most people try to deny the racism in this film. Thanks for the review.

Haven't seen it yet. Personally I think it's a very overrated movie. Yes I say that having never seen it.
