@bb0ysmiley thanks for your reply, I´ve read about 14 biographies ´bout Chopin, 5 Liszt, there is an isue of all letters of Ferdinand Hiller, I read kind of biography of Charles Valentin Alkan, Camille Saint-Saens, Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Robert and Clara Schumann, kind of essay about Ludwig Schuncke etc

Chopin was sometimes impressionable first, later often changed an opinion, he did not like people playing like a monkey (=Liszt), it took Liszt about 8 weeks to learn Chopin´sOP10

@bb0smiley in the 1830´s Liszt was known as a performer, not as a composer, he was one of the first so called stars along the lines of Paganini. I know 2011 is Liszt ann.,but although his great idol was Beethoven, it was Chopin who encouraged his creativity - L. must have adored Ch. that much, he was even the first to write a bio about Chopin. He could play Mendelssohn´s g-minor concert at sight, but Chopin etudes he could not. Chopin was his master. A.Rubinstein did not dare record op10

@junghesse About Liszt and the Chopin etudes. After Chopins Paris debut on 26th of February 1832, he wrote a letter to Hiller where it says: "I am writing without knowing what my pen is scribling, as Liszt is at this moment playing my Études and banishing all suitable thoughts from my head. I should like to rob him of the way he plays my studies". As a 14 year old, Liszt could sightread the hardest works and transpose if necesary.

That´s what most people thought in those days. Chopin´s influence and abilities can not be described to the whole extent. During Chopin´s lifetime Liszt didn´t write anything noteworthy. It was first and foremost Chopin who set limits to Liszt´s abilities, Liszt couldnt play his etudes at the first go, it took him many weeks to learn. Every Chopin-piece is a jewel, Liszt however made a lot of nerving noise

One of my favorite Chopin interpreters, but I think Liszt did a lot more than Chopin pianistically, even performing some of the etudes which Chopin couldn't play (his hands were somewhat too delicate) and composing for example pieces that could be considered impresionistic or modern. You'll have to consider that Liszt lived almost twice as much as Chopin.
