In this case, the plugin (Molar), sends a stream of MIDI Notes to a virtual bus on my machine. I watch this stream and compare each incoming value to a lookup table which matches Notes with Movie Position (in TroikaTronix's Isadora). Then I jump to that Movie Position.

There's a bit more to it than that. Basically, each pad holds 16 steps. The first one is usually a straight loop, ie 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...16. Then the second pad is a slight remix, maybe 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, etc. So I'm switching between preset re-slices, and in this case, messing a bit with the pitch and gating. It's also fun to re-cut new sequences in realtime, but it's a bit messier.
