The Gorilla Doctors of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project team up with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers to rescue a baby mountain gorilla caught in a poacher's snare in Mgahinga National Park. Gorilla Doctors Jan and Fred track the baby, who has a wire snare cutting through his leg and his mother Inshuti. Both baby and mother are darted with anesthesia so the snare can be safely removed and the wounds treated. UWA rangers and trackers make noise to keep the group's 3 defensive silverbacks from harming the doctors. Despite a raging thunderstorm, the mission is a success and both mother and baby return safely to their group. www.gorilladoctors.org
