The video does not show a live performance but is the result of a test performed in my studio.
Im not a professional drummer, Im instead a sound engineer with a big love for drums.
The drum set is a vintage Gretsch from 1958, recorded with a Joemeek mike about 60 cm (2 ft) in front of the kick drum and 1 mt (3ft 3 in) from the floor.
The aim of the test has been the research of the most natural sound as possible, with a typical jazz set (except the snare that is a Funky from Tama). Skins are all white Remo Ambassador and the ride is an Istanbul Mel Lewis

In the audio tracks there arent either comps or effects, only the natural sound of the room processed with an eq to clean a bit the sound.

The mike is processed with a Joemeek preamplifier and then recorded using Protools.

  • wich mic did you use ?

  • @rockanroleroamil was a joemeek JM37 condenser mic

  • May I ask what hihats you were using? Not sure if you've answered this, but I only see your ride in the description. It sizzles and fits in the mix wonderfully. Thanks for toue time.

  • @rootvalue HH is a zildjian K "dark" "14

  • What a nasty-sounding mic. Way too bright.

  • Great, HONEST sound.

  • Very nice sound!

  • Smoothplaying man, i'm gonna try it

  • Very nice - definitely captured the natural tone of the drum kit! I really love your style on the kit as well, good job :)

I miced my drum kit up with 2 very cheap mics - I did a sound check with it and its' on my channel - take a look and let me know what you think :)

    Thanks!
