A tutorial that quickly explains how to synchronise Reaper to Renoise so that you can play large media files (audio and / or video) along that does not require additional 09xx offset commands to get your long samples synchronised to your arranger positions in Renoise.
A few things not really splendid explained:
- the bpm of the mediafile that you want to synchronize is leading no matter if Renoise is master or slaved to Reaper.
- The ReaRoute 1/2 output is automatically set in Renoise if the ReaRoute Asio driver is being selected.
- It is possible to route other tracks back into Renoise using other ReaRoute channel combinations and then use a line-in device inside Renoise and you can mute the external track from inside Renoise during mixing. Uncheck the "Send master" option of that particular track in Reaper to disable double output or echo effects.
Tools required:
Renoise 1.5 or higher: http://www.renoise.com
Reaper 2.030 or higher: http://www.reaper.fm
Midi Yoke: http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm
To get more information about using Midi Yoke read this page:

Well, now that Renoise supports ReWire, this instruction video is more or less depricated....

can you use a renoise file in Protools?

You can Slave Renoise To Protools or Slave Protools to Renoise if you desire.
There are still a few limitations (like Renoise instruments are not made available through MIDI)
but synchronizing Renoise to another host will do a bit better using ReWire.
