The song came out late 60s, I was a tee nager, it was the era of the Vietnam War, the Cold War, grass, LSD, Hippies and Mother Nature getting haywire. if youre going to listen closely to the lyrics, its like someone "tripping" about a post-nuclear war-wasted Earth with human survivors being chosen by ETs to be transported to a new home in the sun. Yes I agree , the song is sad.

im a filipino and i dont really totally understand the meaning of the song. but when i heard it from a mp3 cd i bought, i fell in love with it. sounds sad. And when my mom died, i used it as a song in her funeral... i still love it

The simple fact that so many great songs, Including those of neil young and many many more artists are disappearing from youtube while complete and utter garbage is still on here
