This animation show a conductor can acquire charge through the process of induction. A charge is brought near an isolated conductor. The conductor is connected to ground, allowing some charge to leave the conductor. The Conductor is then disconnected from ground, and the inducing charge is removed, leaving the isolated conductor with a net charge

  • Can anyone please explain the color division (Purple and Red) inside the conductor when the charge is brought near it? And could the explanation be made more convenient using a reference polarity of the charge? please do reply.

  • @pritam4evr When the blue charge (call it positive) is brought near the sphere, there is a separation of charge on the conductors the blue/purple (positive), the red being the opposite (negative). Although the conductor is originally overall neutral, it contains charge that is free to move. The wire is then attached to bleed off the blue charge on the sphere, leaving a net charge that persists after the external charge is removed.
