About once a year, I hear some stunning song, and I go online to find out about it and basically it turns out it's some Canadian song that like everyone in Canada knows.
It continues to irritate me how little exposure Canadian things get in the United States considering how we rudely spray all of the dregs of our culture down here across their television, newspapers, and movie screens.
The charms of Canada continue to require no cultural translation, for me, at least.

We sang this song in choir at the very end of grade 12. I loved the bits out of it because it's just so pretty and nostalgic and fanciful. The arrangement was just gorgeous and it was a really nice change from some of the stuff we had been singing at the time.
It just brings a smile to my face. :)

I love this song, simply because it has such an important meaning to me. I've never been to the Mira though. I'm about to turn fourteen in an hour, but I can still remember as a little girl sitting out on the porch in the summer, laying with my dad.
He'd sing this to me over and over until we had to go inside. Just hearing this song brings me to tears now.
I can shamelessly admit I would rather listen to this than the crappy pop music people expect me to like.

It's a different part of the country, but this song always reminds me of our river, our cottage and the sweet little town we drive through to get there. Heart-warming stuff.

@Quag7 Hear, hear! Well said. I agree -- from what little I've been able to find, I love Canandian music.

@aranhilfp01 It was actually written and sung by Allister MacGillvray.

@thomas1968ie - I like it sung this way, not long and drawn out... :)
Where is the music from? Which musician?
