I just realized Boldwood is played by the guy who played Arthur in Excalibur. my stars and garters! I recognized the voice--- how weird.

Boltwood's as weird as Bathsheeba. He spoke of her more as an item than a person. Gosh! She only gave him a silly letter and he goes nutzo!

I totally agree...Bathsheba needed Oak for selfish reasons...and he needed her - to allow him to love her. He was only half a man without her.
