im going to get an ar in a while, i hear guys say "keep it well lubricated" are they just putting unnecessary emphasis on "well" or do you have to have it dripping in oil to keep it reliable? because i know oil attracts dirt and unburnt power and gums the firearm up. so do you just put a little light coating of oil like any other gun or do you have to make it excessive?

@pkbjorn35 Gun crimes would go down with less guns, but that wouldn't affect crime rates. People would be committing crimes, just with knifes, or crossbows, or rocks. Criminals do what they do because they cant do anything else, and or they are just fucked in the head. Taking away guns only hurts law abiding citizens. Plus even if you took them all away, they would come in from Mexico and Canada. Think about it, cocaine isn't made here, but its everywhere, and illegal. Criminals dont obey laws.

what kinda brush do you have? steel brush or a soft one (tootbrush)?

@jamesbeach2 not true. A gun will do more damage over a greater lengt and in time. Less guns WOULD no matter what you say make gun crime go down. But....i do think everyone should be able to defend them self, and 1 rifle and a hand gun will do just that. Unless you are a hunter or have other special needs, 1 of each weapon will do just fine.

Thanks for the very helpful tips on cleaning my AR15, but I do have one issue and that's right in the beginning of this video. When you mention the fouling that builds up on the back of the bolt. the back end of my bolt(on the rim as you stated in video) had some really tough fouling that a brush was not able to remove and I even let it sit oiled and still is tough as nails to remove. You have any suggestions for me? I just don't feel AR15 is clean as long as all that fouling is there.. Thanks!
