@defootballfreak Although B.C. had taken it to the Stamps as it was during the first half of that infamous meltdown,we'll never know what might have been had Dickenson not went down before the end of the first half. The Leos were the better team when it mattered the most, and I'll leave it at that!
@FrostCrost Not to mention Calgary exacted revenge against B.C. the following season in the Western Semi-Final,and would go on to win the Grey Cup,albeit unexpectedly!!!!
@TTOMO As you may recall,it was indeed a huge upset because not only were the Stamps pegged as a supposed lock to win the Grey Cup in their own backyard in 2000 because of their league best 12-5-1 that season, they had also went 3-0 in the regular season against B.C.Much to the Lions'credit, everything had come together for them and their game had peaked at the most important time. This had been my first CFL playoff game that I attended here in Calgary and was crushed,to put it mildly.
This was no upset, and if it was, it doesn't rank up very high in CFL upsets. I don't remember at all feeling nervous at the start of the game or at any time before the game got out of reach. I didn't get the feeling as a Lions fan that they were in for a shit-kicking from a 1st place Stamps team like the kind I was expecting from the 1994 Stamps (that classic game was supposed to be a slaughter). For some reason, I knew the Lions had this one as soon as they beat Edmonton. I don't know why.
