  • It's a rsh..... they are pretty shabby for falconry purposes.

  • Yes it is a mature RS hawk. They are very common in the East they are not endangered but they are protected.

  • I concur w/ the Red-shouldered Hawk ID, due to the markings & coloration. Although my studies focused on western species, I'm pretty confident what you have here is a Red-shouldered Hawk. Loved the Cardinal. We get neither species here in UT. :}

  • Nancy, I think your correct, it looks like a red shoulder hawk. which has the stripping on the wings and tail where the red tailed hawk has is tan or cinnamon all over. Magnificent creatures...
