I'm pretty sure that the direction they're in now still would've been taken had Joe been in the band. I heard in an interview that Joe had no part in the songwriting. Pete wrote his basslines.

yeah joe was my favorite member. I was into chevelle a whillleeee ago. There new shit is alright, but isn't the same. It was something about the purity of brothers. Now its just two brothers and a brother in law? ehh...
Dean isn't bad though, just different. Although I will say that Dean is a better back up singer imo.

Joe in my opinion was better I haven't heard dean do any cool bass like joe like Peer was an awesome line and is my favorite bass riff and even An evening with El Diablo was sweet I just think the bass was better before Vena Sera

@Firebreather01 That's a contradiction. Pete said in a earlier interview that Joe comes in last and writes his own bass lines. After they forced Joe out of his band they say that he didn't even contribute to the band.

@TheKidInURDreams Joe is the Best! And I love Dean. Just because someone misses Joe or love Joe does not mean they don't like Dean. People are allowed to love Joe and the old Chevelle.

Dean added more power to Chevelle and made them a heavier band. Dean is better bass wise but he hasn't been playing as long as Joe. While Dean is more helpful bass wise, I believe Joe is the better singer.
