    The lyrics to the song "War" come from a speech given at the United Nations by Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethopia in October, 1963. A stroke of genius on Bob Marley's part to have taken what by all accounts was a very stirring, moving, and powerful speech by Selassie and turn it into a very stirring, moving, and powerful song, uniquely his own.
