Out of all my reptiles I have had Stuart the blue tongue skink the longest. I have had him for about 7 years now. He is quite large for a blue tongue at about 22" in length. He is dog tame and eats right out of my hands.

  • Well Blue Tongues in general are usually pretty tame. I usually recommend it to beginners as a first pet moreso than the bearded dragon b/c they are much easier to care for and feed. Good luck with your blue tongue!

  • Well it is good to feed them a variety of foods. Some blue tongues will readily eat insects, however mine refuses to really eat them. You can feed pinky-hopper size mice, scrambled egg, high quality dog food, turkey meat, green beans, carrots, fruits (like melon, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, apple, banana...though not too much banana)...Some even really love the can'o snails made by zoo med. Variety is the key!

  • this is the tamest reptile I have ever seen!

  • cutey :D  <3

  • cute :)

  • @ericbelliard Banana is harmful to most things as it contains very high levels of pottasium

  • My skink Adalon only had scrambled eggs once and while she loved them, I had to leave the windows open for several hours to get the smell she left the next day out :<

    @ericbelliard

    Too much banana gives them diarrhea and causes bowel problems I think, I only give mine a little slice every once in a while

  • @harvbird whats wrong with too much banana?

    just wondering cause it both of my skinks favorite food.

  • Adorable <3

  • im looking into getting one. how much do they cost? and do u have to feed them mice? i have a snake. but i dont know anything about these guys. or would they rather have eggs and fruits?

  • What a big beautiful Northern!! A skink with a full belly is a happy skink for sure. :)
