*JAN, 6 2012 THEATRICAL AGENCY SIGNING UPDATE: Shamus has been signed by the Marlene Agency/ Marina Del Rey, CA for Motion Picture/TV representation. Shamus is currently represented Commercially with the Webb Agency/ West Los Angeles, CA.
*UPCOMING PROJECTS:
He's producing/starring later in 2012 in a comedy feature screenplay he wrote about the Asian/Irish-American assimilation experience, "ANCHOR BABY" Copyright 2011. He has also recently completed writing two other comedy feature screenplays, "BEACH COUGAR GIGOLO" (BCG) -Copyright 2011, and "HARD WIRED" (HW) -Copyright 2011.
"ANCHOR BABY"
What would happen if you woke up one day and found out that you were an illegal alien? When an Asian/Irish-American fights for his independence while working in his oppressive family's restaurant, he falls in love with a patron's (immigration officer's) sister (who soon becomes pregnant;) their wedding and future is in jeopardy when his immigration problems puts love on the rocks. Shamus is currently developing a "one man show" to promote this upcoming project.
"HARD WIRED"
After a billionaire's daughter threatens to expose her father's diabolical plan to enslave the TV viewing public using a new deceptive subliminal programming technology, she evades capture by pretending to have been kidnapped by an outlaw militant group... inevitably blurring the lines between her new reality and her cover to survive.
HW TV SHOW (WGA REGISTERED)
HARD WIRED is also a "state of the art" socially empowering one hour, live, interactive TV show, which pulls its stories from the headlines, and puts the audience in the director's chair, using interactive audience voting and character improv to explore the 'story in a story.'
The goal is a collaboration in communally engaging and answering important cultural and moral questions in our ever-changing society. By empowering the audience with live interactive voting to spontaneously have the actors examine and perform various prospective scenarios via a variety of multimedia options within the framework of plot-points pulled from the headlines, the audience has the power to transform their entertainment into a more meaningful, personalized experience.
This technique is loosely adapted from the 17th century Italian Commedia Del Arte, whereas the audience would throw rotten fruit and garbage at the actors, unless the actors performed what the audience wanted to watch.
"BEACH COUGAR GIGOLO"
When a war vet returns home to find a community and family, which he not only doesn't recognize but which shuns him from reintegration, he builds a new identity by reinventing himself: first by romancing wealthy socialites for a living, then by legitimizing himself as a social worker in a retirement home for the elderly, until his past catches up to him.
In the end, the main character redefines his goals in life- to achieve a balance in spades, albeit uncertain, which grounds him in the perspective that "life can be- must be, better than just a good time."
*BIO:
He is a graduate of the classical conservatory, the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DRAMATIC ARTS, subsequently stage acting for 3 years in the Hollywood's theater district at Tim Robbin's ACTOR'S GANG and the HUDSON GUILD. His film credits include productions in conjunction with MGM/UA, FOX TV, USC, and AFI, where Shamus also studied production.
Additionally, he has also fulfilled his screenwriting and directing credit requirements at UCLA FILM through the (on campus) extension program.
Between acting work In L.A, where he spent part of his childhood growing up, he volunteered weekly for 1.5 years tutoring "at risk" kids involved with teen pregnancies and/or gang activity, in meeting their GED requirements in the AWAC program at the South Central Los Angeles Children's Charity, "A PLACE CALLED HOME."
Also while there, he co-developed a theater workshop with the executive director of Thyonne Gordon. This unique experience led him to focus one of his upcoming projects to involve the theme of gang violence prevention in (HW).

This is an example of what a truly fantastic acting reel should be. Shamus Murphy shows a wide range of dramatic emotions and excellent comedic timing, not to mention, an ability to enhance the deeper themes and tones of all the material he works on. I believe he is a phenomenal creative and collaborative talent and would be a valuable asset to have on any production.
Ryan Barton-Grimley - Director/Writer/Producer of THE TRUTH: starring John Heard, Daniel Baldwin, and Brendan Sexton III.
