The role of government and the conditions under which America can wage war given in the US Constitution emphasize that what we are doing overseas is illegal, dangerous, and by many accounts immoral. The idea of a "Just War" does not condone or support "preemptive strikes" or any other such justification for starting a war without due cause.

The U.S. has a seriously flawed and dangerous foreign policy. We use aggression as a tool of diplomacy, negating the very nature of the republic we have sought to build. The face of America overseas is a young man decked out in heavy body armor carrying an assault rifle. Is this the face of the republic we want to engrave into the hearts and minds of people all over the world?

I advocate the following:

1) Non-interventionism: do not get involved in the sovereign affairs of other countries unless absolutely necessary (no preemptive strikes)
2) War ONLY by congressional declaration. Go in, fight, win, end it, come home.
3) NO nation building. It is harmful to America's economy and it has been the downfall of every major empire in history.
4) Treat other sovereign countries with respect and cordiality. Talk to them, trade with them, work with them. Treat aggression as an absolute last resort to defend our country against imminent attack.
5) Absolutely *NO* foreign aid to any country for any reason is to be carried out by the government. Taking tax dollars from people in one country and handing them over to fat bureaucrats in another country is never tolerable.
