STIRLING BUILD PART 11
HELLO, I AM GLAD TO BE ABLE TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP IN BUILDING THESE ENGINES. I HAD A DELAY IN THE SERIES DUE TO HAVING TO BUY MORE OF THE RIGHT SIZED CANS. (WITH FOOD IN THEM, YES I ATE THE FOOD.). ANYWAYS, I TOOK THE OLD STIRLING FAN APART TO SHOW THE NEXT STEPS AND HOW IT ALL FITS TOGETHER. ALSO WE WILL DO A DIAPHRAGM FOR THE SHORTER ONE. THIS WILL GIVE YOU A CHOICE. ALSO I WILL BE MAKING A PISTOM FROM AN OLD VALVE BODY FROM A TRANSMISSION. A MUST SEE. THIS IS A MACHINED PISTON THAT I WILL JUST CUT OFF THE VALVE BODY WITH A METAL BLADE ON A SKILL SAW. lol LOT'S OF FUN. BETTER THAN COFFEE. MUDDy

  • @peckerwoodcustoms GO TO MY FAVORITES AND LOOK FOR THE SECOND OR THIRD ONE BACK. ALSO I HAVE JUST GOT INTO BELLOWS. THEY ARE EASY AND FAST, AND AS CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL AS A PIECE OF PAPER, OR SEALED FABRIC

  • @Redbeeeerd CUT YOUR CANS AS EVEN AS POSSIBLE, NO KINKS, OR WRINKLES IN THE EDGE. OR THE STRESS OF PRESSING WILL MAKE THE SIDES BUCKLE. I HAVE FOUND THAT SINCE I STARTED THIS VIDEO SERIES... THAT A LONGER TRAVEL OF DISPLACER AND A WIDER PISTON IS A GOOD THING. YOU MIGHT AS WELL TRY A STAINLESS STEEL WOOL DISPLACER. THEY ARE LIGHTER AND WORK AS A REGENERATOR.

  • @ilovetosm420ke BRASS TUBING. SOME PEOPLE HAVE USED COPPER PIPE THAT DOESNT HAVE A SEAM ON THE INSIDE. ELBOWS AND COUPLERS USUALLY DONT HAVE A SEAM. THE PISTON ITSELF CAN BE MADE FROM EPOXY. TYPE IN EPOXY PISTONS IN THE SEARCH BOX. STILL YOU MUST NOT USE OIL IN THESE PISTONS, IT WILL STOP THE MACHINE. THE FRAMEWORKS IS JUST COAT HANGER. GLASS TUBING AND CARBON PISTONS/ GRAPHITE PISTONS WORK BEST. IF THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE, THEN USE A DIAPHRAGM WITH A SHORT STROKE.

  • @jre1378 THE SIZE OF THE TUBES ARE PROBABLY TOO SMALL, BUT THEY ARE THE ONES I HAD ON HAND. THEY REALLY NEED TO BE ABOUT 1 1/2 INCH.

    EXPERIMENTATION IS THE KEY THOUGH. SOME I HAVE MADE WITH DIAPHRAGMS AND THEY DID WELL. IT SEEMS THAT THE WIDER THE PISTON/ DIAPHRAGM, THE SLOWER THEY GO, BUT THEY HAVE MORE TORQUE AND HANDLE LOAD BETTER.

  • @specallez I DONT HAVE THE SIZES ON THE TUBES ANY MORE. BUT WIDER WOULD BE BETTER. THE SIZES WERE 1/64 th INCH DIFFERENCE. YOU CAN MAKE AN EPOXEY PISTON AS WELL. JUST CUT A PIECE OF ANY POLISHED TUBE AND SPRAY SOME COOKING OIL INSIDE IT. FILL WITH EPOXY AND LET IT DRY WITH THE PISTON ROD INSIDE IT. SOME TIMES IT'S HARD TO GET THE PISTON OUT BUT IT WILL FIT INTO THE OTHER PIECE PERFECT ENOUGH TO RUN WELL.
