Here's a movie of when I'm building my new HTPC. It's put together in a time lapse movie.

The components in the HTPC are:
Zotac IONITX D-E (Intel Atom N330)
Corsair XMS2 4096MB (800MHz) kit of 2x2GB
Panasonic UJ-120 (blu-ray)
WD GP 500GB 32MB harddrive
Compucase 8K01BS w. 100W's PSU
Fractal Design silent 60mm fan (not silent at all)

This movie has been created on that PC, just so I could test and see it's performance.
It's playback on blu-ray movies is flawless with PowerDVD 9 (with CUDA).

The screen I'm using is a BenQ G2420HD with 1080p.
The cable is a dual-link dvi. The reason I'm not using HDMI is because I already had that cable, besides they are using the same video-signal.

Speakers: Razer Mako 2.1 6x50w channels.

I hope that you enjoyed this little movie.

Over and out.

  • would you do it the same again?

and could you tell us why?

  • @preytec If I would have built a HTPC today i would have chosen a more powerful solution. One of zotacs motherboards with a LGA 1156 socket + core i3 would have done the job nicely and there would've been more CPU power to do other stuff as well. Besides that I would not have changed anything, maybe a bigger HDD due to a lower cost today.

  • @Cruzade90 hello

fits there a normal 3,5" hdd and a slimline dvd drive?

  • @Feuerwerksfreak1 yes, the 3,5" HDD hangs under the 5,25" slim DVD slot

  • How does the PC run?

Does it run/load up 1080p movies with no lag

    and clean performance?

    Please reply?!

  • @SanctumARMS The ION Chipset can handle 1080p material without any problems as long as you have a codec-pack and a mediaplayer that uses GPU Acceleration such as the MPC-HC player. If you run the HD-Video on the CPU the playback will be choppy etc.

  • @datdude12121 Yup, there are even smaller ones if you use an external power supply :)
