  • I'm not going to eat out more at

1-restaurants that provide food that makes me fatter

2-food is 5x+ $ of what it would cost me if i just bought it and made it myself

3-spend more to make things better? more like self defeating ideal of our failing government policies

4-when the owner of the restaurant drives a lexus?

    no thanks!

  • Just hoping the video encourages folks to think about how they can contribute, as individuals, to the help turn the tide of the economy. And know that if you DO eat out, the money you spend is having an impact.

  • This is a great informative commercial, however many american just can't afford the $50+ it would cost to eat out 1 night per week. We were eating out, typically 3-4 nights a week and MAN it was expensive. We have cut back to eating out once every 4-6 weeks. This had been hard on us, but I feel it is helping us get ahead of our debt ratio. I think we could try to eat out once every 3-4 weeks! Anything to give a little boost to the economy today :)

  • That's exactly why this video was made - to help people understand that every little bit helps! Remember, you don't necessarily have to spend $50 to make a difference - even an order off the $1 menu puts double the amount back into the economy.

  • The reason eating out is such a large part of our economy is because we're (collectively) so fat. Add to that the % of our economy which is from the health industry that profits from our being so fat and you have an even bigger % of the economy. So, basically they want us to get fatter for the economy? Yes, some can eat out and be healthy... but most don't.

  • Deciding what to eat when you eat out is something well leave up to the individual. In the end, the video was simply meant to show people how eating out once more each week could really impact the economy.

  • You people really do not understand economics. The idea that eating out helps the economy is absurd. It uses up resources that could otherwise be deployed elsewhere.

Eating out = consumption. And consumption is the reason the US economy is in the current condition. Anyone stupid enough to believe that the economy would improve if everyone would just spend more money is seriously ignorant of the issue.

It's like paying people to build useless pyramids. Wasteful and not productive.

  • @insider88 That's exactly the point! When you eat out, the money you spend (no matter the amount) is going to support the entire supply chain - which includes all of those you mentioned and more. That's how the $1 you spend can actually put $2 back into the economy. Thanks for the support!

  • Great video. Some critics argue that fast food industry creates only "minimum wage jobs". But that's what puts many teens to work. lt also generates decent pay jobs: truck drivers, farmers and growers, packaging, transporting, construction workers for new building, remodeling; which leads to more work for architects, engineers, contractors, accountants for tax, payroll , lawyers, office building owners, real estate developers for shopping centers, etc.

  • That's the point, people don't make the right decision. The people who do are a small % and we don't need to worry about them. But overall as a country, collectively, I don't think we need to eat out more. That's why the US tops obesity rates... not because people are eating at home more often than not. And that hurts us more than eating out will help us.

  • Appreciate the feedback!

  • Good video.. made a lot of good points
