because they are the voice of our generation, speaking out against things we all feel and identify with. they have a VERY talented songwriter/singer in matt (who went to an ivy league school) as well as talented musicians. they are also not well known beyond the underground, and if anyone deserves tonight show or late night appearances, it's them. bottom line: their musical style is unique and energetic, and their lyrics are meaningful and sympathetic.
